Exclamation Help with coils/ Fuel regulator

I have a 91 Na that i rebuilt and dropped in a turbo 2 motor, I am running megasquirt v2.2 and i have weak spark. I believe my coils are bad, is it possible to use third gen coil packs on this ?, if not any hints, could it be a bad wire, any way to bypass the factory power to the coil and run my own, does anyone know the color codes for the coil wires ?, Also i cant use the stock fuel regulator because of the removal of all the control solenoids and such, does anyone know what pressure to run the fuel lines at ?, car is pretty much done, love to test drive it, sounded real nice ran it once but had to pull start her spark is really weak, also on megasquirt just checking what pin to use to hook up the oxygen sensor I believe is pin 30 on the input side is this correct ?,.also am trying to get a knock sensor hooked up , any hints /tips , Also does anyone know if its worthhile to upgrade the main chip in v2.2 to the 16 bit processor ?. Thankyou Adrian

The coils are not weak, they are better than the FD ones. Why do you think spark is weak?

There is no reason why you can't use the stock FPR. Just run a vac line from a manifold nipple (make sure it sees vacuum, not all do) to the FPR nipple.

I'd be very surprised if the MegaSquirt knew what to do with a knock sensor. Not even MoTec bother...

coils dead ?

I hold my spark plug agiasnt the block and it produces a ery weak spark when u look at it. Megasquirt can see knock sensing by upgrading to megasquirt 2 Knock Sensing System for MegaSquirt-II, link at http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/knock.htm it shows you how to wire it up, it would give car greater tuning capability and more cleaner running experience. Any manual way to test my coils, whats the wire diagram for the coils ?

That's interesting. But having read a bit about the extraordinary amount of time and effort car manufacturers have to put into developing effective knock sensing, plus the fact that not one of the top-end aftermarket EMS manufacturers offer it, there's no way I'd be trusting that MS system, especially if it's attached to a very old-tech knock sensor like ours.

Knock sensing doesn't give you greater tuning capability (it doesn't make you any more skilled or knowledgeable), or a "cleaner running experience" (I don't know what that is). You would have to be very confident in the system to use it to tune your engine to the ragged edge of detonation. IMO it's biggest advantage is protecting the engine against unforeseen circumstances like a bad batch of fuel or overboosting.

There's info on testing the coils in the FSM Engine Electrical chapter, and their external wiring is shown in the Wiring Diagrams chapter. If you don't have the FSM, click here and download it in PDF format for free.

Fouled spark plugs will do the same thing.
How about if you change out the spark plugs for good (new) ones?

As NZConvertible has already said...the FD stock OEM coils are a downgrade from the stock OEM FC coils.

if not any hints, could it be a bad wire, any way to bypass the factory power to the coil and run my own, does anyone know the color codes for the coil wires ?
Do you know if the Megasquirt can fire just a bare coil or does it need an ignitor?
Depending on how that question is answered will determine how we answer your question on this...
I don't believe the Megasquirt can fire an aftermarket coil directly, so you'll need to keep the stock ignitors or get something to substitute for them.

, Also i cant use the stock fuel regulator because of the removal of all the control solenoids and such, does anyone know what pressure to run the fuel lines at ?
There is only on solenoid in the system for the FPR.
All it does it pop the vacuum line open to atmosphere when cranking.
Specs for fuel pressure are stated in the FSM.

also on megasquirt just checking what pin to use to hook up the oxygen sensor I believe is pin 30 on the input side is this correct ?
Contact the vendor you bought the unit from...
Or else ask in the Megasquirt subsection?

,.also am trying to get a knock sensor hooked up , any hints /tips , Also does anyone know if its worthhile to upgrade the main chip in v2.2 to the 16 bit processor ?.
Again, see above - ask your vendor.
The vendor who sold you the unit should be giving you technical support for questions like this.
Don't expect us to be able to answer all your question on something that is not stock OEM.
