what model is your car? you have LSD? If you are going to remove the upper intake manifold to put on that egr block off, you should look into converting to the s5 upper intake manifold. Just make sure you devise a way to control teh VDI. Otherr than that just remove as much weight as possible and get a gooood launch. You should definetly be able to out launch a front wheel drive car. . if you can't then that is probably where the problem is. Goodluck withthis man.

ROFL! Did yall hear about the guy that hooked 2 jato rockets to his car? Was in new nexico or seomthing. The guy worked at a military base. Ended up stealing 2 of the things. See the problem with jato rockets is they burn themselves out, u cant turn them off. At about 250 he realized that... tryed to hit the brakes... melted them. They speculate at around 300mph he went airborn. Ended up cratered in the side of a mountain about a hundred yards up ROFL.

you ran a 16.8? damn
I ran a 15.7 in my nearly stock GXL with dead suspension (my front bumper was almost scraping the ground when I was shifting)

I saw that mythbusters, the helicopter couldn't keep up, lol. I've got the GXL so I've already got LSD but thinking back, when I was at the track I lined up right on top of the VHT so that would explaine my rather long burnout. I'll definatly get a new clutch some time in the future, mine is already making some noise so I'm just waiting for it to finally go. and I'll upgrade to a lightened flywheel while I'm in there too. As for the strength of his motor, that poor thing's seen more then its fair share of boost and nitrous in its lifetime so it's time is limited, hes already got a hole in his tranny. I think thats his forth?

and yes, as I said before my driving skills could use some help, but that was months ago so I've gotten better, and if I get some good practice at launcing it I'm hoping to get it into low 16's as it stands today.

get a bigger shot of nos - 35???? - thats REAL low for a na.. go ATLEAST 50 - i would like to have mine upgraded to a 75 but i dont feal i am ready for it ... yet. - do the cold air intake, i like the single exit corksport exhaust (www.corksport.com) - that should kill him.
I'm sure getting a cat-back wouldn't fix anything or make the race close. Full exhaust would work. Again listen to dDub and check that link on NOS. I think that on a ported engine or nitrous with basic bolt ons could possibly take him. But as your car is now, you'll get walked easily (my friends 14.4 turbo Civic walked all over my NA with an exhaust and a few other mods).

I think everyone has missed the main point here, your buddy's civic has a turbo and still only runs 14's, high 14's at that. I have a civic that would run 14.2's with bolt-ons, and i dropped it to 13.8 with a 50 shot, and its an automatic not v-tec, your car may be slow, but he just plain got ripped off with whatever mods he's done, what loser.

But seriously, I would definately try a tune up before anything, I haven't taken my fc to the track yet, but i know it's gotta be faster than 16's stock. But keep the reasonable tips coming for us who can't do like we would love to and have our fc's purely as race cars.

minor update, we were at the track tonight and he managed to hit 14.6. I however, with my uber fast shifts hit 16.85 on my frist run and it went downhill from there, I REALLY need to get some cold air up in my car. New shifter bushings would help, trying to find thrid is killing me, but there just has to be something I'm missing here. The cars got new plugs, wires, oil, tranny and diff fluid (redline of coarse), coolant, some minor weight reduction and the prementioned tweeks to the motor. My friend thinks I'm not getting the fuel I need so I need to go order the two fuel filters and check my pump. High 16's for an RX is just bad news, I almost feel guilty wearing my RX7 shirt....

You ended up in the waterbox, not VHT.. If you ended up in VHT, you wouldnt be burning out very far..

Actually I went around the water box, and from what everyone around here tells me VHT and street tires arn't a good combo when looking for traction. This time I went off to the side where it was still "clean" and I was getting better launches. oh, I have the time slips if anyone wants to mock my reaction or 60 foot times.

About 50% of this topic is unrelated to the actual question. Please, keep it on topic. I'm not big on "FC vs. the world" threads anyway, so any more off topic stuff and this thread is done.
