Help a brother take down a civic
This “friend” has a 1.6 single overhead turbo 4 door civic and ever since I got my 87 N/A he’s been giving me **** about how slow my car is, the “slow 7" as he calls it. His best time at the track is a 14.8 and the one time I took my car down there I got down to a 16.8. My car was damn near completely stock when I ran and it had a dead suspension, full tire pressure and a full interior. He and his civic must go down at least once at the track! 12500 miles on my 7 but it has great compression and runs like a champ, I’ve got a cone filter and I’m setting up a cold air intake very soon. An exhaust from racing beat is on the way and I’ve upgraded the suspension to KYB struts and Tein springs. I’ve taken out the air pump, ACV valve, BAC valve, everything AC and done all the weight reduction I can figure. What I need from my fellow RX brothers are some ideas to get my car into the 14's at least once to bring him down. The trick is that this is my DD and my only car so it cant be held up for days/weeks while I put in a turbo, it needs to stay NA. That doesn’t however rule out nitrous and I’m already thinking of a 35 shot for the day. Nothing has to be permanent, just needs to get my car fast for the day. If you don’t want to spill your tuning secrets to the world a PM would be very helpful too. For the sake of all RX’s that he bashes, I need ideas!

10* advanced timing
Lose EVERYTHING you can on the interior, convert to manual locks/windows/etc, rip out the sunroof tracks/etc and bolt it in place (if so equipped), pick up a LSD, run a single exhaust, pull off all of the tow hooks and various things, remove headlights/headlight motors/etc, install a PROPER cold air box, port the **** out of the intake manifolds/TB/etc, full tune-up, SAFC or similar to tune out the stock map, the lowest octane fuel you can find, pull the radio/speakers/etc, remove all the excess **** from behind the dash (a/c, heater core if you can, etc). That oughta do!

JATO? you lost me. I'll surly rip out speakers, passenger seat and probly dive into the dash one day to get rid of some stuff in there. I do however want to keep my car comfortable enough to drive it everyday. I was thinking about putting a small nitrous bottle either in the back where my spare tire used to be or in my compartment behind the seats, if I can keep it out of site it would aid in the shameness I usually dont care if someone talks ****, but this particular guy is just one of those guys that is just looking for any excuse to make himself feel better then you, you know the type. I figure if I beat him at the track with my NA which he's been badmouthing for months, then I can rub it in him face anytime he tries to bring up the "slow 7" comments. Out of curiosity, what times should I be seeing with the mods that I've already got (including the 35 shot)? I haven't been to the track but that one time.

Weight reduction.
Full exhaust.
Intake with a proper cold air box OR custom CAI.
Ported manifolds/tb/tb mod.
Remove all emissions and cats.
Better tires.
Better clutch.
SAFC and tune to 13-13.5 AFR's.
Advance timing ~10º
MSD6a or similar would help.
Remove 6pi system (the sleeves/rods can be a tiny constriction and if you're dragging or doing high rpm racing only who cares about low end).
That'll get you started, but you should also pull the motor and port it for some better gains, if you're willing to rebuild and spend the money.

Why not the BAC? It came with the other block of plates I bouht (ACV and EGR) and my car idles and runs damn smooth, plus I've still got pretty damn good gas milage for city driving. I just need to get in there one day and put in that EGR plate...

why not just throw in a bigger fuel pump, get a SAFC2 (to tune down the fuel from the walbro), new plugs, new everything that is regularly supposed to be replaced, as much weight reduction as you can handle (for a street driven car, having NO interior really doesn't interest me for a extra .5 of a second - considering if you are a shitty driver you are losing much more time from just lack of skill...(not saying you are a shitty driver, but im sure i dont drive my car as fast as it could, since i smoke pot and my reaction times suck - lol))
get a bigger shot of nos - 35???? - thats REAL low for a na.. go ATLEAST 50 - i would like to have mine upgraded to a 75 but i dont feal i am ready for it ... yet. - do the cold air intake, i like the single exit corksport exhaust (www.corksport.com) - that should kill him.

lol, where can I get JATO Anyways I don't even know why this is going down like this, like someone said already he shouldn't be comparing and n/a and a turbo vehicle. A 14.8 second turbo car is nothing to brag about. He has small nuts, just call him on it

Read: http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/NOS.htm

yeah man, get a good clutch.. it will change everything.
i recomend the 4 puck sprung Racing beat disc, i use the stock pressure plate with that though..
costs like 110 american for the disc.
now i take off like a rocket.
