If you lost an apex seal then you need a rebuild. Talk to Kevin Landers. He can rebuild your engine for you.

The apex seals are metal seals that go in the tips of the rotors, and seal against the rotor housing. They are basically comparable to a piston ring, in that they hold the compression in. (as well as side and corner seals).

Apex seals do not go due to overheating, but coolant seals do (basically comparable to a head gasket)

The coolant seal seals all the way around the housing.
If your car wont even crank, then most likely neither of these things are the culprit. Look into you battery and starter 1st.

check compression to see if your seals are gone.

If you tell us the exact symtoms of your car not starting , we will probably be able to help you troubleshoot the problem. When you 1st turn your key to the on position, how many volts are you reading? When you attempt to start the car, what happens to your volt gauge? Does it crank at all?

To determine if you have a bad apex seal, you would 1st want to do a compression test. If you are reading very low, or even no compression, a seal couldve gone. (could be an apex or a side seal, but wither way it requires the engine to be torn apart and rebuilt) You're looking at a ~$600 bare minimum if this is the case, and that is if you do all work yourself. But as I said before, a blown seal will in most cases not keep the car from cranking at all(it may if the seal is jammed very tightly between the rotor and housing, but this is not very commom). If the car is not cranking as you say, put a socket and a large ratchet on the crank pulley and spin counterclock-wise. If you can spin it like this, then you have a starter or battery problem. You should even be able to spin the pulley by hand if youre not a complete wimp...

maybe you have a bad alternator which could lead to a bad battery.

sleeper,

take it one step at a time, dont look for the easy or cheap fix. With any car, 1: does it crank, 2: fuel/spark 3: Compression

take Rxmfn7's advice and try to turn it over by hand. If it turns yet wont crank, your not likely to have to go into the engine for the non cranking issue.

Do some search's and take some time to read the archives. More info in there than you can imagine.

Also, I meant to say spin clock-wise, not counterclock-wise, sorry. It should spin either way, but if you have a socket on there and try and spin counterclock-wise, you may loosen the pulley...

Bahahahahahahahaha

Rotary engines are reliable.

If you don't know what your doing yes they will fail.

They are no the most powerful, however are very senstive to modifcations.

My vert has 249,000 miles and still runs strong.

Some many things go wrong? there are only 3 major moving parts.

I wouldnt say they are better than another engine but different. If you dont know how a rotary works read this:
