same thing kinda happens to me, except its just the "belts" light that stays on at all times.

There are issues with trying to draw massive amounts of current very quickly using only an alternator and a battery.

I'm not saying caps are the solution to his problem, but there are highly valid reasons to use them in a car audio system.

In this case I'm going to agree with everybody's FD alternator recommendation. I plan on doing it myself eventually.
