Question help 88 GXL

alright i can crank the car, when i do it revs high but sounds ok no odd noises... but once you shut it off it will not crank back up unless you let it sit what could it be...

sounds like it is flooding try pulling the egi fuse crank it a few times an put the fuse back.

Ok, as for the high rev I am assuming you are talking about the accelerated warm up which is perfectly normal. As for the car not starting after you shut it off...are you driving it and then shutting it off or just shutting it off while its warming up(revving high as you said)? As SD said, sounds like its flooding.

anytime if it moves or dont move it will not crank back up..

what is the EGI fuse you speak of also.. whats it do...

that fuse will un-power your fuel injectors so u can unflood your motor. basicaly crank when the fuse is removed and the compression will push the fuel out without injecting any into it.
Then replace your EGI fuse and crank without using the throttle.
If that dosent work time to pull your plugs and clean them off.then try again.

i had that same problem with my 88 gxl...apart from the over heading i just did a rebuilt

well i dont want to rebuild lol... that is the last thing... just need running good enough as a DD or get rid of it...

If you turn it on and shut it off right away, it could be flooded. Try the deflooding procedures.
