Heater hose busted car got hot....advice/comments/experiences welcome

Well my heater hose busted and coolant went everywhere....smelled the coolant then saw smoke turned heater on and pulled over and temp started going up turned car off.....stock s5 temp gauge....needle went just about to the top of the line but not past the line before the H line.

Ok I hope that makes sense : but Im worried about any damage this may have caused. Ive read rotaries are very sensitive to overheating and scared I might be needing to replace more than just a hose. Advice, comments, whatever are welcomed....just dont make me feel tooo bad.

If it starts up and doesn't smoke coolant out the tailpipes, expect a coolant seal to go out in the next 200 miles or so.
Happened to me twice.

Yes it does start up. Idle seems ok....I don't like to do this but...I assume its just fine since it got turned off as soon as I could. Just wanted to be sure though and get opinions and maybe someone bringing up things that I could watch out for.

As soon as I get a hose for it and get some more coolant back in I'll feel a lot safer running it though. Anybody know a good place for a hose? online maybe? tried autozone but they never seem to have anything... I got just a straight hose I thought I could just bend around but its kinking up in at least 2 different places)

edit: the hose is the one on the driver side going into the firewall from the engine.

Ahh not what I wanted to hear haha. Guess what I need to do now is decide to get it ready for a rebuild/swap now or just find out how lucky I am and replace the hose??

same thing happened to me... its not the end of the world. if it only overheated once, you will be fine. replace the hose... fill it back up w/ coolant and take it easy. my car runs fine now and that happened almost a year ago. no problems overheating what so ever. can run the AC in hot *** weather and temp is fine. hot summer days ideling in traffic, its fine.

that happened to my FC while chasing after a 300gt VR4 lol! i busted the heater hose and the water pump at the same time so you might want to check your water pump too, and for the hose i just went to schucks and thats it, you should buy new hose clamps while your at it tho, easy fix!

Glad to see some happy endings. I'll just have to have somebody take me around tomorrow and yep already got the new clamps thanks for the reminder though =D. Did you guys find a molded hose like the one that is on there to replace it or did you just snake one around things and make it work?
