Heater Components question.

So here is the deal, i got a 87 NA GX not a GXL , it a Canada Model.

My heater somewhat works but not great or even good. i am putting new carpet in, so i took out the dash to find the blox box in between 2 other white boxes ( ie center heater unit, and some other white box on the very passenger side of the car ) was missing. so would that be the reason why my heater wasnt working to good?

dont know if the guiy before me took it out or what. so i took the black box off my 88 parts car to swap it in, but i didnt know if it would cause my heater to barley push air out any of my vents or what? so i dont know if it would be worth even putting in or if the unit is really only for AC ? or if it makes a big difference that it is out.

The black box in your picture is the A/C core... and not related to heating.

Heating is done in the box in the center section. The box on the far right side of a left hand drive FC is the blower.

Two separate systems.

0o0o so with the black box missing the blower is not going to be blowing anything threw the vents then corrent ? so i should put the black box in for just a passage way to get to the center heating unit.?

The NOW-gutted black box will act as a conduit or a shuttle for the air to pass through.

another question about it.

so i installed the black box, but didnt really help any. i can still hear the blower blowing. but i can barley feel any air come out of the vents when on high heat, but when i the logicon on cold ( all the way to the left ) then the air starts blowing harder, but still not like it should? what would cause that?

Put the key to ON, engine OFF. Put the heater slider just a touch to the right (so the blower motor won't drown out the sound of the air mix motor).

Now push each button (the ones for windshield, feet etc) and listen. Do you hear the air mix motor humming each time you do that? IF not, then download the HEATER AND A/C section of your FSM and follow the instructions on how to troubleshoot the problem.
