I had noticeable gains in power (and noise) with Racing Beat headers on an 86. I can't give you real number because I was running with a stuck apex seal the whole time (I found out later) so even estimated before and after numbers would be way off.

If you have an upgraded intake and enough fuel, and especially if you have an AFC or the like, you should see real gains on the order of at least 5-7 hp over a catless stock system due to improved flow at the ports and when the pulses mix. 10-12 hp over a system with cats.

Up to you whether that's worth the $. Don't get the JCWhitney cheapo header. It fits and won't fall apart or anything, it just won't get you any more power.

Racing beat also has a true dual system that is supposed to be even better (and louder).

What have you done about the 5th and 6th ports?

if you get a header, get a mind train, or an SDJ, they are the 2 best engineered headers made for our cars. the RB will provide decent gains, the mind train more, and the SDJ some considerable gains. the SDJ however is 550$ for street version, 570$ for race, but are worth the money.

i have the pacesetter one, but i havent got it installed on a car, waiting to finish restoring but i know they fit to the stock cat. im hoping with a header baffle from summitracing that it wont sound like crap. i got them for 120 on ebay last year but ill have to wait awhile to see if they help over a manifold straight to muffler setup i ran for a few years.

they have lots of stuff for our cars, mostly performance, and upgrades, but great great stuff.

the pace setter headers are ok if your on a budget, but for just a little more money, you can get a better quality RB.

don't listen to Agent_D. he's making up all this stuff.

Just kidding Jyrome. haven't talked to you in a while.

I have headers and a full racing exaust on my vert and when it worked i noticed a huge difference. i say go for headers and a good cat-back exhaust system if you need more power.

Agent_d.... you silly silly man. talk to me on aim tomorrow nite. i'll have a few questions for ya

Matt
