Header comparison

Ok, After asking around I've come to the conclusion that the Racing Baeat headers are the only ones worth getting for the NA. But I have 1 more question, What are the advantages of using the roadrace header vs the streetable header. Does the O2 sensor bung come on both of them, Will either bolt to the stock cat. Ive heard the ports are bigger on the roadrace version, but will this effect my mid range to drastically. My car is basically a stock S4 right now. I know its going to mess up the 5th & 6th ports but thats fixable. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Statik

neither will bolt up to the stock cat back, you have to buy their presilencer which is more than the header, or have a custom pipe made. I have the road race header on my 90 gtu and it sounds awsome, the difference is that the road race header tubes do not collect, the streetable headers tubes collect into one flange.

The only difference between the two is the fact that one is collected and the other is not. They use the same size pipe. There is no o2 provision on the road race header and neither will just directly bolt up to the cat. You will find that after installing a header of almost any kind you will have much more power everywhere and the car will be more fun to drive.

Ive heard good things about mindtrain, I dont think that they are too bad, better than pacesetter anyway.

Thanx Everyone

Thanks everyone but your answer lead to another question, I plan to AutoX the car with occasional Drag racing. Would I benefit more from the road or street header, Having the custom mid pipes made is no big deal. But If I run from the Header to a 3" test pipe, would whether the header is two pipes or one pipe even matter since im going to one pipe anyway?

You will have to additional extend the wire of the O2 Sensor as I did with my RB Streetable Header. It will not reach.

If you by the pre-silencer w/the header your 6 ports will work perfectly. It has the pressure line that goes to your actuators on it.

What makes you think that the pacesetters will make you lose power?? I have them on my 87 and they work fine... for now at least. In retrospec i would have bought the racing beat because they are stainless steel and are equal length. The pacesetter is pretty much straight through with no restictions at all, trust me I checked.

My first aftermarket header was the PaceSetter and it worked great. Anything is better than the stock manifold. The big problem is that the front exhaust runner is 10" longer than the rear making unequal length headers. Racing Beat's are equal length. The Pace Setter also did bolt up to the stock main cat on the 2nd gen. I do have the Racing Beat one now but will sell it in the near future since I am building a better one. For less than $200 the Pace Setter is the best bang for the buck. It's the $2 hooker of the exhaust world.
