header

Wouldn't you just be removing the exhaust manifold and replacing it with the header. It's NOT complicated. As for the expense in putting it on, why can't you do it yourself, unless the underside of your car is rusty.

Jeez, 300 bucks for a header install? I could see that for my Trans Am, with 0 room, but not for an RX-7.
Remove the intake ductwork to give yourself room. You should be able to do this even with ABS in the way, but you may need to get to the bolts from the bottom (dunno, I yanked the ABS crap already). Remove the heat shield covering the manifold (10mm bolt heads, soak them real good with penetrating oil, with the engine COLD), there's 5 of them I think.. The shield should just come off. Unbolt the manifold from the cats (careful, it's heavy), disconnect the O2 sensor lead, and unbolt the 4 bolts holding the manifold to the block.
Sorry, again, I've only done this on my race car, I don't have half the **** in the way you guys will.

As long as the bolts holding the exhaust manifold come off easily, it is a very easy install. Don't pay someone else to do it. Usually, the hardest thing is to unbolt the exhaust pipe from the manifold. Soak the rusted nuts very good before you do the job.

Oh, I have a new exhasut. It is all new pipe and a new high flow cat. The muffler shop cut my old exhaust off right at the back where it bolts to the manifold. Will a header bolt up (it is basicall the same as if it were stock)? Do I have to have a RB presilencer?
