Head motor dead??

Whats up everyone, heres my prob, my headlights turn on, but the driver side isnt rising at all its staying down (The passenger headlight pops up fine, the driverside headlight was popping up fine and now all of a sudden it wont rise).

The manual turn peice on the bottom of the headlight is broken so I cannot raise the headlight in this way. Im guessing this means the motors gone?? (Unless anyone has any other advice). How hard is it to replace a headlight motor?? Thanks for your time everyone, enjoy the summer.

check the connection at the motor....use a voltmeter at the connection while someone turns the switch on and off...unless you have some long clips to secure the probes on the meter....at least you could rule out no electric getting to the motor...

I just might take you up on that, does each light have its own independant motor?? (Im assuming yes duh, since my right headlight still pops up). So im assuming just change out motors and im fine? Do I need a whole left side headlight assembely or just the motor?

Can you pry it up by hand? i.e. is one of the connecting rods broken (or fell off of the "ball lock")...Is the motor making any sound at all when switched on/off?

No I cant, pretty sure the motor is dead, nothing has fallen off. The headlight got stuck in the up position before because I left my headlights up all winter, after wd-40ing the hell out of it it finally got unstuck but when i was trying to put my headlights down, the headlight kinda of made slight noise and heated up, Ive smelt some weird smells in the past few weeks so im assuming maybe when I try to put my headlights up it burnt out etc. I tried prying it up with a tire iron but its ready to snap, Its not about to pop up.

If anyone has a headlight motor for a s5 (1990 GTU) ill take it off ya hands, if side matters its driver side.
