For Hawks HPS brake pads users

Hey guys, I received my pads from Mazdaspeed today. I just got a question abotu these pads. On 2 of the pad, there are these clips on the top of it. What is that? How come it is only on 2, not all?

Do you always ask questions the yahoo group and to the list? This isn;t the first time I've noticed it.
Check your email, D.C's answer is spot on.

Those are the rear brake pads I believe. It holds the brakes in place. You should have 2 small holes in the back also where the tension springs go in. You do need 2 tension springs per rotor(rear only) otherwise your pads will wear un-evenly. The front brake pads go in like cartridges.

Actually, they are the squeal shims to let you know when your pads are wearing low.
