Having problems with new BNR stage3

Ok I got my car running good and I have new exhaust gaskets for the turbo and manifold and I can only squeeze out between 7-8psi on the BNR stage 3. I have the boost controller turbed up as high as possible so now I am lost. My car runs and idles perfect I have checked all hoses rechecked the turbo and manifold made sure everthing was tight there. So now what? Who else here has a BNR stage 3..? Is yours running good? I was planning on running between 15-20psi and I cant even achieve 10. Hell my stocker was puttin out more power at least it would spool up and give me 20psi. Anyway I was just wondering what I should check if anything is left to check or what. I have heard rumors that people were having problems with the Stage 3 and so far I have to confirm that to be true.

Buddy of mine had problems with his hybrid too. His fix was to make the wastegate spring tighter. On some cars the exhaust pressure in the manifold and turbine was enough to overcome the wastegate flapper opening it up prematurely. he simply added an additional spring inside.

Btw, 20 psi on a stack turbo is asking for trouble, 20 on a hybrid is REALLY asking for it even with proper fuel and front mount.

ya ok, I will worry about that trouble after I can build 20 psi. I ran 20 psi for over a year on the stocker with no problems.

Well I have a Stage 3 and it does, if this has been a known problem with the stage 3 then why dont they just discontinue it..? Instead of keep selling it and makin people angry.

I don't recieve ANY questions, so I cant help you with the solutions. When you have a problem, I insist you to ask me. I am not in business to make people angry, I am here to help you make your cars fast. This problem you are having is small, we just have to work out the bug.

it's not a 'known problem', the only person that it's happened to before now never contacted BNR to see what the hell the problem was.

Ya I got your Emails and the advice seems to be right on, she is spoolin better now. Its obviously in the tuning I did not realize how the fuel could could affect it so dramatically. Today afterwork I am gonna retard the timing like ya said and lean out my lower Rs.

Good deal . Just try and make sure you have a wide band O2 sensor in there when you make hard pulls up top, don't want you to pop your engine.

Tuning is the MOST criticle thing in building a turbo Rotary.

what are you using for your boost controller?

cause on stock pressure sensor/wastegate line you need the "pill" to resitrict some of the pressure to the wastegate actuator. otherwise the acutator will filp open quickly..

are you rpms climbing Normally?

I am using one of those $10 boost controllers from Ebay. The ones made from hardware store parts. My RPMs are climbing like they should the boost is darn near 15 its at 11psi. So I think I just got to play with the fuel and boost controller a bit more. Otherwise I am at 11 psi prolly at like 3700-3800 rpm and it holds that through the RPM band.

I have an Apexi avcr and a Garret T04b hybrid and I was wondering if the restrictor pill was needed with this setup. Because I dont get crap for boost in first gear. Which I hear is normal but it just doesnt seem to boost very well.

Well to make the boost controller or solenoid more effective with upping the boost, a .10" Pill will decrease the volume of air going to the controller/solenoid, therefore making the valve way more effective. The pressure in the line doesn't change much, if any. You just have to watch out after you do this, b/c your previous setting will be way outa wack and boost may rocket to the moon. Then POP goes the wankel...

Aight people the Stage3 is almost dialed in. It is currently hitting 15 psi by the 4k mark and feels pretty good. I can tell there is more power to be had and I still need to do the fine tuning. But shes spoolin good now. Just wanted to give everyone the latest
