I keep hearing how a lot a you guys have power steering, should an 86 n/a gtu have power steering?

the GTU wasn't introduced until 88 and yes it should have power steering as standard equipment. are you sure you don't have a GXL?

 

2nd gen rx7s came with power steering from the factory. Whether or not it has it now depends on if your or the previous owner removed it, whether or not the belt is broken, or whether or not the pump is malfunctioning. I, myself, do not have power steering in my 90 GTU because I removed the pump from the car. Heh, it's leaning against my house in my driveway

 

And GTU's didn't come with a turbo. Don't worry, if you add the package title (such as: GXL, vert, GTU, or T2), we will pick up on that.

 

No, again that is incorrect.

Power steering was optional on many S4 models including the Turbo. A good 50% of the 87 Turbos did not come with power steering, but instead had manual steering racks

I was about to say that my 86 never came with power steering. I drove an 88 vert the other day thinking, hmmm, this is nice.

 

uh its a gtu (considering it has all original stickers, even the ones on the hatch window, and title and all original papers) and no it doesnt have it, not supposed to either lol but thanks guys for the input

 

you know, its possible that the original owner ordered the car from the factory with the p/s delete. i had an 88 TII that did not have power steering.

 

my 87 t2 chassis does not have power steering
