I have no experience with zMax in a rotary and based on everything I've read, it isn't good to burn any additive, which is what happens when you add it to the oil (or gas although I only used the oil additive). I used it in my 86 735i BMW a few years back and I had tried a couple of others prior (DuraLube, Slick50). I can only say this--my car had around 230k miles and burned no oil and ran strong, but after I changed the oil (Valvoline 20-50 always) and added the zMax, I definitely noticed a difference in power. I know this sounds pretty extreme, but I take great pride in trying to be objective and accurate. SO, I thought well I can't believe the difference was actually noticeable, so I didn't tell my wife and just let her take the car when she needed it next and didn't say anything. She had no idea I added the zMax and I didn't say "go check the car out" or anything. Basically, I waited until she needed to go somewhere and then waited to see if she would say anything upon returning. Well, she definitely noticed also and came in and asked what I did to the car because it was noticeably stronger.

I'm going to add that most if not all other conditions were pretty much equal (i.e. the temperature didn't drop 20 degrees that day in Arizona, etc.). Basically, this was a typical day in Arizona 90 degrees during the middle of the day, AC on, etc. etc. So for what it's worth, I had a positive result in that particular car. Since then I've been putting zMax in various high-mileage piston engines with no negative affects. I can't say I notice any of the same experience as before, but these are cars I work on for friends, etc. and I'm not really used to the power or feel as if it were my own.

Basically, if there is a product out there that enhances the lubricity of the oil I would guess it would be a good thing, assuming other factors such as the optimal amount of detergent is kept equal, etc. It's just the burning of some product not meant to burn, etc. that I would stay away from. I intend to modify the OMP to use 2-stroke and end the burning of crankcase oil, and then at that point I might consider sythetic, or additives.

Jeff

I'm brand new to the rotary, so please feel free to correct any advice I may have implied above.
