hard starting and missing
got a feeling my friend trashed my car when i let it to him for the week. 89 NA auto, now is hard to start. I gotta pump the gas a lot to get it started. Doesn't matter whether it is hot or cold. Also, it makes a popping sound (miss)from the engine until it warms up.
( was slight before, now its worse) engine can be hot, and it still does this. What can I do to fix this problem besides kicking my friend in the ***. Car was running good when I lent it to him!!!

Well, I know he won't pay, since he has no money. I cleaned the spark plugs, had to recharge the battery, and checked timing. Car starts better now, still gotta pump the gas pedal once in a while, but at least it runs good once it's started. I was thinking maybe the injectors or the o-rings were giving me the hard starting problem? Maybe the plugs? I'm new to this forum, and have very little experience working with the rotary. /so sorry for the "beginners" questions.

It might be a hose popped off or cracked. What you can do is get a carb cleaner and spray around the hoses and see if the idle changes. It's not a turbo so obviously he didn't over-boost. If you have a vacuum leak, it will idle rough when cold and if if you have a big vacuum leak, it will be hard to start and hold idle.
