S5 intake on S4 block?

Can this be done? for the good of VDI system?

Would there be any gains to going VDI?

Doesnt the S4 have something like that as well?

THanks

Markus

Been done, not a simple install but not too far out of reach for the average shade tree mechanic.

Dyno tests show about a 7-10HP increase using the VDI intake on a S4.

Requires a little grinding, and fittting as well as a RPM sensor that can trigger the VDI.

The only real gains are better breathing at upper RPM.

The S3 and S4 13B engines do not have anything like VDI. The VDI changes the intake runner length to match engine RPM to optimise the DEI effects.

Of course thinking the way I do, the adition of the VDI only being a greater top end, just wire it open and say to hell with the extra crap...but it's not quite ideal.

From what I gather you can put a VDI upper and middle intake on a S4 lower intake without problems. This would allow you to keep functioning emissions.

No...the the portion containing the VDI will not match up with the LIM...but the emisions equiment from the S5 will fit the S4 block without a problem.
