hard start Qs
hey guys, well im not too worried about this but im just wondering why it takes a while for my 88 GTU to start up.
after i leave it sitting for hours or overnight, i just sit there cranking for like 10-15 seconds.
after it fires it shoots up to 3000 which i know is the CAS, then drops around 1.5-2000 rpms. then after that it dies out unless i give it gas. once it warms up though it idles perfectly.
so i guess my questions are:
why does it take so long to fire up?
why does it die when its cold?
car has 212xxx miles on it.

Maybe or possibly your starter. You can bring your battery to test at a local auto parts store and you can test your alternator by pulling off the negative terminal off the battery while it is running.
