hard to shift when hot
Hi all,
I have 87 T2, it is hard to shift after around 30 min of driving. easy to shift when cold. Shifting become notchy and stiff when hot. Even in neutral going side to side is stiff. Its nothing related with the clutch because it would be the same even if i turn off the engine.
i previously had Liqui Moly 75w90 and i change it out to royal purple synchromax and still feels the same, easy when cold hard when hot.

Replace oil in the shifter housing and transportation oil to 75w140, still hard to shift when hot, starting to think the tranny is going

Have you adjusted your clutch pedal? If you don't have enough play in the clutch pedal the clutch can become partially engaged as the fluid in the master cylinder warms up.
A pissed off tranny is really going to hate you when cold but hate you less when warm. Your situation directly points to a clutch hydraulic problem, as your issue is the opposite.
Release the lock nut at the clutch pedal adjuster and back the clutch pedal off a bit. If that helps then keep backing off. The clutch should be fully engaged by 3/4 pedal travel and only start to engage at all at 1/2 pedal travel.
I can almost guarantee you this is your problem.
