half a dead engine

ok so my car is being a real bitch. im fairly sure that its not any seal and im not going to need a new engine or anything. but i do have something really wrong with it. it seems like its only running on half the engine. the front rotor isnt producing power

i have compression. checked it out and everything seems ok, which means that all the seals are more than likely good. also have fuel going into the cylinder. the spark plug was covered in it. and lastly, i just put new spark plugs in it, and all the cables are good. so what is it? i have compression, i have fuel, and i have spark. what else does the damn thing need to run??? its the front rotor not working if that makes any difference. if it just had a fouled plug before is it possible that the front rotor is just flooded or something or what? anyone have any ideas?

Well, can you give us anymore information?
Like, does the power hit a wall at 3800?
Why do you suspect its the front rotor, not the rear? (fouled plug only?)
Year, Turbo/NA?

Everything really...

its an 88 vert, N/A. yea the front rotor was full of gas. i pulled one of the plugs, pulled the EGI fuse, and had my friend crank it over and gas came out of the hole. and the lack of power is immediate. you can hear and feel that something isnt running like it should be. i had the car out about two weeks ago and the volt meter wasnt showing that the alternator was working so i parked it, removed the alternator and sure enough it was bad. so i had to wait for the new one to come in and the car sat the whole time. i got the new one, put it on, and as soon as i started it up its been like this. the car sat for four days. why the heck is it like this now?? i didnt mess with anything else, just the two wires for the alternator, and the pivot bolt and the adjustment bolt. thats it. like i said, its got compression, its got fuel, and its got spark. last time i checked, thats all you needed to get an engine to fire.

Not to scare you Reuffeo, but Mine was acting similar to that desciption back a couple of months ago. Like, it would crank up, but it just would'nt run right. I changed plugs, wires, fuel filter, oil, everything! I even changed the coils. Turns out my oil seals and water jacketts are shot. I lost my lisence about that same time so I have been saving my $ci-zash$ for a rebuild/port from rotary ressurection. Good luck man, hope you get it figured out.

any new help on this? problem still remains. i would REALLY like to have my vert running for spring time. talked with some other rotary owners and one of them said it could be a stuck injector flooding the engine because it stays completely open. anyone ever heard of this/had this happen to them/know anything about this? thanks

Problems like this are very difficult to address.

But seems to me that you've got a very solid premise to go off of.

Spark compression fuel.

You have all three. Just an excess of one. Fuel. I'd say that it likely you have leaky primary injector. Out of the myriad of problems I've faced with the five 2nd gens I
have owned in the past, I have never had an injector fail.....I've had their plastic tips cracked, the seals to block fail etc. but not the injector itself fail. Could be as something as stupid that the primary electrical connector's plug isn't getting the right info from the ECU from wear? But never the less it seems, if you're correct in your assumption that the front rotor housing is flooding, that injector is failing somehow....

Good luck.

You could just have a crapped out injector.

Test them as indicated in the FSM.

thats what im guessing. and with it being winter and all, ive hardly had a chance to do anything with it. is it possible for the timing to be off on just one rotor? because i know that the rear rotor is running fine but obivously the car isnt going to go very far on just one, not to mention thats only like 60hp to push 3k pounds around :P.
