GXL/TII drivetrain 'stronger' than GX's?

GXL/TII drivetrain 'stronger' than GX's?
A friend is considering slapping a 6-puck copper racing disc into his GX. I'm sure that I've overheard/been told at one time or another that the GXL (and TIIs) have a stronger or larger or whatever drivetrain than the GXs do.
When my 1st GXL got smoked, I xferred all the GXL-type components to my GX parts car (so I now call it a GXL.) This xfer included the rear drivetrain (I wanted to keep my 5-bolts and was told that the easiest way to do it was to swap everything rather than pick it apart.) While doing this, I was told to include the driveshaft in the swap because the GX driveshaft wouldn't mate up with the GXL/5-bolt differential.
So the concern my friend has, and the question (getting to the bottom line) is - will the copper clutch smoke his drivetrain? Or is he okay?

GXL has a regular ol' N/A drivetrain - only the T2 has a stronger drivetrain.
I think it's funny that you swapped the driveline over because it's all the exact same stuff

Funny? I wanted the 5-bolt. Why take apart the hubs when I could just drop the whole assembly out? It's not like it took a long time.

Nope My car, the 89 GX has 5 bolt hubs and single piston front brakes.... it ALWAYS has to be the exception to the rule
... (oh, that will never break.... (it did...))
