Guy's that have Greddy EGT guages in their cars, question about the sensor/probe....

Is the Probe/sensor a "K type" thermocouple?

If anyone knows this please post up.

BTW how far do you all mount them from the exhaust port? I have mine about 6" away from the port on my RB header.

It looks like a K type thermocouple to me just shielded inthe probe. I was picking at it for a while and it looks like thmaterial used in the greddy unit is the same as my k-type thermoprobe wire that came with my wideband

The thing with K type sensors...I have read if you shorten or cut the wire...you will throw off the calibration of it.

So, could you even splice into it ?

Well with the aid of Wankel7 and some ebay searchin we've been able to get vague but somewhat convincing answers about Greddy and other Jap guage sensors infact being K-type thermocouples.

If anyone has more info please post up!
