GSL-SE engine into FC... corroboration?
Does anyone have corroboration that a GSL-SE's engine has the bosses for the under-oil-pan motor mount just like an FC?
I have a completely thrashed FC that may be giving up its crossmember for my '84, but I'm still in the planning stage. Need to know if I can use the engine as-is or if I'm going to have to make new motor mounts.

The SE engine does not have the mounts through the oil pan that the 2nd gen engines have. This doesn't mean you can't make it work though. The driver's side engine mounts are the same. You need to take another driver's side engine mount and bolt it to the passenger side of the SE engine to make it fit the FC. You will need to make a spacer for it though. It needs to go out several inches.

I was wondering about that, too...
The driver's side motor mount can handle the different forces just fine, then? That's good news. How much of a spacer are we talking about, quarter inch shim type spacer or inch and a half accident waiting to happen?
OTOH, if there's room, I might just shim *both* sides to get the engine as far over to the right as possible, to help deal with the heavy left-side weight bias that FBs have.
