I know my tranny's on its way out but whenever i try to engage reverse it grinds pretty hard. Why does it do that and how can I avoid this if possible???

mine was doing this, also 4th into 5th was a real METAL onto METAL feel, would never go from 2nd into 1st when moving and sometimes wouldn't go into 2nd from 3rd.

took it into work, had the mechanic put new synchro's on EVERY gear, what a differnce, is a BEAUTY to **** now

There's no synchro on reverse, so you have to be a little gentle and feed it in easy - going into 3rd first helps - just think of slipping it into a babe, do you just ram it in, or use a little finese?
