If it's not grinding in all the rest of the gears than i'd say there isn't a problem with the clutch. Looks like your on your way to a tranny rebuild soon. You could try Redline MT-? tranny fluid to see if it helps at all.

Redline MT-90 or Royal Purple 75W to 90w. I run Royal Purple 85W, and my synchros love me for it!!

Sounds like a synchro problem to me. If it were just gears, you would get grinding at any speed. Try some good synthetic tranny oil and see if that helps. If not, a newbuild/rebuild is in your future. Good luck!

I covered this just recently - is the search disabled?

The stock gear ratios between 1st and 2nd are too wide for REDLINE shifting.&nbsp Either short-shift at a lower RPM or WAIT a split second for the synchros to do their job.

No amount of synthetic fluid is going to "fix" this "problem."

i'd try to change the fluid first, and then the bushings (mine are bad and it does the same thing) it wouldn't be related to the syncros unless it's all the time not just under hard acceleration also have you tried matching the rpms? if it's hard to match then it might be the syncro's i just would try the basics first to eliminate them then think about pulling the tranny since that's alot of work for something that might not be broken.

Reverse gear is the OTHER problem with these transmissions.&nbsp I normally shift into 1st or 2nd first THEN reverse - this seems to help most of the time.

You guys ever heard of BG syncro shift? The DSM guys use it, supposed to get rid of the grinding.

Not really...if anything the Redline MT-90 did the most difference.

What about a short-shift kit? Does that come with new bushings, etc?
I don't feel short-shift kits are worth the costs...

Redline is better, the DSM crowd is generally a bunch of sheep though, so thats why they use BG like its magic and refuse to hear anything else.

Redline will help if you syncros are starting to wear, and if you'r not shifting too high.

The reverse gear does that one most trannies. You have to put it in anouther gear to stop the tranny from spinning.
