Exclamation Greddy EGT wiring Q

Yeah, I searched.

Installing the 52mm gauge. Need to know WHY this gauge needs a constant 12V AND an ignition source. Seems kinda redundant.

I dunno why they do, but they definately break if you wire them to the same source. I know the peak/hold ones need constant to keep the memory. I dont really know why the regular electronic guages require both. But all my greddy electronic gauges are wired up with seperate constant and ignition sources.

Just follow the instructions, I believe I permamently fucked up my 52mm greddy EGT by wiring the ignition and constant 12 volt sources together.

How would that help answer my question

Why does the gauge need an ignition source and a constant 12v source?

Um, why are you arguing with the given instructions?
This is only a theory, but maybe GReddy wired the circuit with some kinda switching relay within the gauge that uses the +12VDC switched as a turn on?
I dunno if you noticed, but all the GReddy gauges are standard wires and colors.

Wire it as instructed.
If you don't want to do it that way, don't expect it to work correctly or perhaps even damage to the unit.
If you can't do the wiring yourself, pay someone else to install it for you.
