The FD tranny and FC Turbo tranny are pretty much the same thing internally so there is no advantage to changing it, and the disadvantage that the FD tranny has been having another 60+ HP running through it to wear it out 1/3 faster than a standard R type tranny found in the 87-91 Turbo.

I'd go for it if Icemark says it'll fit, and ****, if you can get it cheap from a friend...go for it

Dang, I would've figured that they would at least beef up some of the internals (especially the synchros) in a TT car. The only thing that really kills our trannies is the ocassional messed up fork and lots of worn down synchros, right?

Couple problems...

FD tranny uses a pull-type clutch, which means you need to buy a new clutch.

The FC trans mounts won't fit on the FD tranny, cause the FD tranny uses the PPF for it's "trans mount".

Basically, the internals are the same.
The FD tranny does not use stronger gears.

To me it's too much effort and a waste of time...

No, I didn't say it would fit... I said it was a waste of time since the internals are the same.
