GRacing Shifter for the FC RX7
Howdy everyone,
So I looked through the forum and couldn't find anything on the G-Racing Short Shifter for the FC. I found a few threads regarding short shifters but nothing about the short shifters that Keith at G-Racing offers for the RX7s and Miatas. So I thought I would document the product here on the RX7 club. I reached out to Kieth from G-Racing that I wanted a custom short shifter that would still allow me to use my RE-Amemiya shift ****. He normally provides short shifters with built in shift ***** but he had no problem accommodating my request. I sent him one of my extra shift ***** so he could get the exact measurement.

Here are some pictures of the short shifter compared to the oem shifter. Also some pictures of it installed.
Installation: Super easy. You just remove your oem shifter. Remove all the bushings or whatever is left of the oem bushing. Keith provides a derlin bushing. Clean the area clean. Apply to some grease to the pivot ball of the shifter. Install the shifter and tighten three bolts with an allen wrench. I applied some hondabond between the shifter and the tranny.
First Impressions:
Overall Impressions: It feels absolutely amazing. Shifts are super short and direct. Height is spot on, the distance from my steering wheel to the shift **** is super close. No more reaching down to grab the shifter. The rattle isn't that big of a deal, it only happens at high rpms (past 6k rpm). I knew I was installing a part meant for racing on a street car. Keith's customer service is second to none. He guided me through the whole installation process and asked plenty of questions regarding my set up.

First Impressions:
- I absolutely love the height of the shifter.
- The shifts are super short and close.
- The unit is sturdy and stiff. You have to wrestle the shifter to get into gear (I mean this as a compliment)
- No slop in the shifter lever.
- There is some rattling at high rpms but settles when you shift up a gear. Keith did advise me beforehand that some street cars experience this. I'm going to replace my motor and tranny mounts to subside some of the vibrations.

Quick Update: I upgraded to the Himni Poly Street Motor and Tranny mounts. I originally had Mazdacomps. I also repalced my tranny saddle as that bushing was broken/detached. The rattle isn't as loud anymore and only starts around 6.2-6.5k rpm. I'm running an NA S5 trans so when I hear the rattle it's almost time to shift up a gear (I don't have the shift indicator buzzer anymore). Small price to pay for performance.
