Cool Got my exaust system...FINALLY

Hey Ppls Just thought id share my happyness with my fellow roterites, I got my N1 yesterday and my Bonez striaght pipe. The install took 2hrs i did it myself with the car up in the air on jacks with relitivly crude tools, and after a few painful moments i got it all bolted up
As soon as i turn the ignition i heard a low tone exaust note which was very nice. It was also very loud. Being someone who has never driven a car with an upgraded exuat i was very amazed.
I took it out last night and dident nessarily notice a huge change from my old factory exaust system and the new one, (except for the noise). I was driving around town generaly under 3k and dident notice a huge change there. But when i took it on the highway over 4k i noted more acceleration gains.
Does anyone have any clue rufly what one gains in hp from a stright pipe and single exaust??
The only thing i havent gotten yet is my intake. After installing the intake do you guys think ill see more of a gain in acceleration oh yeah i own a 88 N/A
-Thanks

I'd imagine with an intake you would see about 20rwhp difference than if you had all your cats and stock catback before. Intake will help out, so you might actually get your 5hp from the intake.

that is kind of wierd that it made no difference in performance. but it does make sense because you haven't upgraded the intake.
yesterday I replaced my 2 precats with a pipe and damn, it made a hell of a difference

a few things:

1) was it a single exhaust that you put on, so you went from dual to single (sorry, i am not sure if N1 is single)?

2)did it come with a silencer? if so, have you tried it and can you notice a difference?

3)basic tools being what? did you have to cut anything to get the stock exhasut off?

4)can you get a couple of picks up, preferrably one of under the car, i would really like to see what it looks like, well any pics plz.

thansk!!

oh ya, how much for it all? where did you buy it? did you get good, fast, courteous service?

Yea, strange that the exhaust itself didn't give you a "wow" at first. I had my first intake and catback made YEARS ago and it didnt make any difference in power I could feel...then I had a downpipe/racepipe made from the manifold back no cats, and the car was completely different on the first drive. Racing beat used to quote an 18 RWHP increase with their racepipe and presilencer...you should notice 18 hp. I wonder...

On an NA I don't think it will be a HUGE change, especially without an intake.

All Im hearing from you guys is intake this, intake that...

I wonder what type of whp gain I'll get if I mod my intake on my tII. Its still got the stock box with paper filter. pushing 203.4hp to the rear wheels.

what kind of intake mods are we talking about here? are we talking about porting the manifold and throttle body or are we just talking about a filter upgrade?

i really don't see a filter upgrade freeing up that much power, i'm thinking 2-5 HP at the most ...

K.. well first by crude tools i just ment like regualr tools and **** i dident have to cut anything at all i simply unbolted the old system and bolted the new system up.
I got the Single N1, due to the fact i liked the wieght loss and the easyness of installing it on my own.
Now for the place i ordered it through... I ordered through rx7store.com which you guys im sure have heard about. Unfortunatly my experience was less than pleasing. The only thing postitive i can say was that the dude that sold me the sysytem did compensate for the error.
Hears what happened; I origanlly ordered the Apexi GT spec exaust. To make a long story short, The gt spec was back ordered, and basically I dident find out untill the day i was supposed to get exaust. The dude at the place dident call me or anything to tell me what happened. I called the day It was supposed to be at my house wondering what the hell happened and that was when i found out it was backordered. I had to settle for the N1 cuz that was the only thing in stock at the time.

It took a total of 3 WEEKS to get the exaust, at a shipping rate that was incredibly expensive, I dident get new hangers or ANYTHING with the exaust, including the free silencer i was garaunteed to be free, or the reciept for the sale which is extremly important to me for the insurance. So the only reason ive been so happy about all this is cuz i finally got the exaust, and ive been able to use my car which is all i really care about.
The Bonez race pipe i orded through rx7.com, came in 4 days-bam no problem but this **** with the exaust was just too much.
I gotto call the dude monday to striaghten everything else out and hopefully everytihng will get better then.
