Got the engine together....finally

Well, I got my engine put together...(Block) What kind of compression should I expect just turning the engine over with a wrench. Or should I wait till I have the oildpan and everything else before I bother with compression? THis is my first Rotary Rebuild....Hope it turns out ok.

Wait to have it in the car, it will be hard to turn the engine by hand and do a compression test. Good luck with it.

Just rebuilt my first rotary and first engine for that matter this winter. Me and another 2 friends rebuilt our engines this winter, one friend did a mild streetport, another did a half bridge and i did a rather large SP.

Don't bother hooking up a compression tester, just give it a few good turns and you will be able to tell if it makes compression or not by how powerful the thunk/pppssshhh noises are. You can also look into the exaust ports to make sure all the apex seals are in correctly. It shouldn't matter if the oil pan is on yet or not. Good luck.

Keep in mind it will not have peak compression until after the break-in.

I knew I had read about this just recently, but couldn't find this thread and started a new one!

Anyway, I'm getting a bit over 30PSI on both rotors when turning it by hand, so it looks like I'm in pretty good shape.
