aftermarket air intake temperature gauge sensor on TB

138 degree intake manifold temps......... i installed my air intake sensor gauge today. problem number one.. i see that the the sender for the gauge is an inclosed thermocouple. its incased in a brass housing so no air actually touches it. its relies on conduction. the air conduction is overridden by the TB conduction.. so what i have is a TB temperature gauge. so my tb is giving 138 degree reading after sitting ina drive thru or 10 minutes.after five minutes of driving it goes to a whole 137.... i guess i need to mount the thermocouple into the rubber housing. i spent 20-30 minutes drilling and tapping a new whole into the TB. maybe i should have tapped the IC instead. im going to be getting rid of my blitz sus LM(the cloth one) intake after this lil discovery, thats just too hot to sit in the bay.

(temp gauge nordskog temperature sender Throttle body)<--thats for the search engine.. i dont like not being able to get the info i need because of things like t2, 88', being too short so im going to make a habit out of this extra wordage the list of dissappoint search replies for stuff you know is here goes on.

The probe for my IAT display is mounted in the rubber IC-TB elbow. Readings over 50degC (122degF) are quite normal in heavy traffic or when stopped and it will climb to 60degC (140degF) if you get stuck in accident traffic like I did yesterday...

If you want to see some impressive figures, put it b/t the turbo outlet and the intercooler inlet then go full boost, uphill, on a 100 degree day. That'll scare the bleep out of you. humor

but temperature response is way too slow in the Tb takes 10 minutes to drop 10-15 degrees

Not if you have a Fluke 52 (grins). It's instantaneous.

Here's a fun reading I got this morning in 85 degrees outside air temp. A little boost while passing in traffic. Stock car mostly with a Greedy large *** intecooler replacing my front bumper (and choking my oil cooler also). Fluke with K probes of approx 1/16 dia inserted into the turbo outlet duct and one in the throttle body inlet hose/duct (rubber piece).

Top figure is the intercooler outlet and the lower figure is the intercooler inlet.
