a GOOD maf adapter????

does anyone know who makes the MAF adapter that actually funnels the air through our MAFs properly? all i see on ebay and some other websites are the crappy ones that are basically one flat piece of metal with some holes and another piece of metal in a circle welded together. i could make that out of Home Depot material for like five bucks. i want one that actually matches the contours of our meters.

seriously dude. it doesn't matter.

That tiny bit of flow you might get is like a 1/4 of a hp. If you are pushing enough air that the tiny bit of restriction is giving you problems then you need to be going standalone. You not even turbo. I've never seen an NA motor max out the AFM.

Yes, the cheapie Ebay adapters are not designed very well. The cast HKS AFM adapter is the most common quality adapter, and it sells for less than the machined RP adapter in the previous post. Higgitrix also makes a larger one:

The original poster is talking about the junk Ebay adapters that are made out of plate metal or horribly designed plastic. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost 5hp on an NA. You are correct, a streetable NA will not 'max out' the AFM, and I seriously doubt the nice-looking RP adapter would make any perceptible power difference vs. the cast HKS adapter.

actually matching your parts to create an even flow of air will do quite a bit. it's worth a couple of FREE horsepower across the ENTIRE RPM range. your increasing the motor's volumetric effieciency and thus makin it EASIER to make more power and actually improve your vehicles idle and emissions. turbulant air flows at a slower speed then smooth air.

i've port matched my entire intake manifold and smoothed out all the angles and casting flashes, why would i want to ruin that by just throwing on a piece of junk adapter?

higgi is a forum member with a good reputation I personally wouldn't worry about any issues with his shop. Do take into consideration that he's from the Czech Republic though so account for shipping.
