Care to re state that statement? How is it 'ghetto'? Because you have to...OMG...pop the hood and twist a screw to increase boost?

MBC - 15 bucks homemade (includes #5 value meal for lunch)

EBC - 300

you make the call. Unless you really, really need a boost controller that you can adjust from the cabin, or you get off to fancy electronics, I really don't think a EBC is needed.

EBC are far superior to manual boost controllers. I have have 2 different MBC and got sick of always screwing with them to work right. With the EBC the boost is always constant, no over boosting, and spools the turbo faster.

Can anybody make a comment about lag regarding the difference in boost controllers?
if a EBC promotes quicker spooling wouldn't that also mean less lag?
worth the money in my book.

Again I'm not saying MBC is superior to the EBC, but price wise...it's hard to beat the MBC on a bolt on turbo II. Sure you'll probably start seeing boost spikes when you set it to 16 pounds, but at 12 pounds it shouldn't be a problem even from a highway roll. Sport Compact did a test of many boost controllers. The standard issue MBC did pretty damn well, and for the cost I'm tired of seeing them slammed down. Sure when I gwt the money I'd like a cheapie EBC, but until then a MBC will serve just fine.

If you can't afford $300 bucks for a boost controller you don't need a turbo.

If you don't know what a wastegate is you don't need a turbo.
there I fixed the quote for ya

FWIW didn't you say you didn't want to go stand alone on your full to4 swap because it was too expensive. I agree that for upgraded compressors and def. full to4 swaps a EBC is nice, but if you're gonna do it, do it right.

Hey, nitrous. Do you plan on doing any 1/4 mile or hell, even 1/8 mile runs anytime? I was just curious. You said it ran 12's right? Be interesting, especially at pecan park.

Ok i knew what a wastegate was. I was just double checking. I want to go with the bigger injectors and a safc and a boost controller and keep my boost low for a while. I have a 2003 montero sport that i have to make payments on and im trying to put more than my monthly payments each month so i can get my payment down. After that i will go full ems.

does your boost feel peaky with a manual boost controler? that was one of the big issues of early turbo cars, they where so damn hard to contorl since all the power came on at once.
