Godspeed coils?

Hey guys,

I currently have a 91 vert with KYBs all around. But I was wondering if godspeed coils would be a good buy for the car. Any have any experience with them on a vert? How did the car feel after installing them. any more info on this would be nice.

goodspeed, i suggest saving your hard earned money and inventing in something more longterm, ive never heard reviews on those coils, i suggest going on zilvia and finding reviews on the 240's, those guys are always willing to be guinea pigs with stuff like that!

KYB is a good brand for street and autocross driving. Godspeed is cheap Korean junk made for drifters who want cheap coilovers that do not need to perform like race-quality parts. Whether or not it is a good buy depends on what you want.

Personally, I have KYB AGX with Racing Beat springs on my street/autocross convertible, which allows for a good ride on the street with enough performance to have fun autocrossing. I have Koni coilovers with Eibach ERS springs on my FC coupe race car, which you can purchase from Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development or Ground Control. I don't like any of the cheap Korean coilovers (Godspeed, D2, Megan, Buddy Club, etc.) because you can get race-quality parts for just a few hundred dollars more, and it is my opinion that anybody who is too broke to buy quality parts should not be racing in the first place. Were I building a show car, I would probably go with one of the shiny Japanese brands like Tein or JIC.

i agree, AGX are the best street struts. there's many different lowering springs which will all work very similarly.

i have learned to hate my HKS Hyper D's for any sort of street driving and those are $2500 coilovers. not many coilover setups i have really appreciated for the street.

Ksports & Stance are decent low and middle level priced coil overs.

I personally am on 5 year old Ksport Kontrol Pro's and have done drifting and track days on them with little issue.

I'd recommend getting some Kontrol Pro's and using the extra money on the important stuff like worn out bushings.

As for springs/struts versus coilovers. Coilovers tend to have stiffer spring rates which can add to predictability. It was night and day difference between Ksports and my previous Tokico Blues & Eibach springs.

stick with your KYB's or get something decent like Koni insterts and custom spring rates.

He says many times MOST coilovers are garbage; especially the facy Japanese stuff with lots of ***** to twiddle with.

Woah, thanks Acroy! That was a massive eye opener to me. I didn't know that are dyno charts just for shock packages.

Going to be looking at other stuff from Kyb, AGX kposrt and Penske . Lots of choices to choose from. Thanks everyone for the help!

I'm running agxs and ground control coil over and camber plates. They end up running around the same price of entry level coilovers, but the adjustments work on the shocks and struts and they've given me no issues for 7 years.

we went racing with the AGX's and they are durable, we have a set that's done 3-4 seasons of racing, and 6 years of street driving and they are fine.

we find they didn't like springs that were stiffer than about 400lbs/in, so i would actually say the nicest AGX setup, is a 300lbs/in front and 200 rear spring. it works very well on the street, and its not much slower on the track than a stiffer setup
