Oh c'mon guys, anything is possible. It won't be easy, that's for sure, but neither is swapping a 13B into an MGB(my current project). Wait a little while till the aftermarket stuff for the Renesis comes out, and you'll be a big step ahead. I plan to run the 13B carbeurated until the car is road worthy/driveable(i.e. more important stuff to focus on right now than figuring out fuel injection), then I'd like to eventually go to a Microtech setup. Anyway, wasn't trying to thread hi-jack, just pointing out that it's all possible.

But I too think that it will be a hard conversion, but I also think that shops will make conversion kits and try to make it not so expensive (that way more ppl will buy it).

I actually got the chance to talk to some Mazda big wigs that were making their rounds at our dealership. They said that if (strong emphasis on "if") the car does well, they will launch a Mazdaspeed version of the car, possibly turbocharged.
I can't wait till these suckers suffer the mazda tradition of horrible wiring.

How many of us can get a stock ecu to run a modified engine properly let alone **** with one that requires the damn computer to tell it how much to open the throttle. I'm thinking they made a tweak proof product with the Renesis. Sure you could port the exhaust more to get some beneficial top end overlap, but would the ecu understand what was happening?

actually its the motor mount that is in the way.... they have said that just making a header for the car will be a challenge. Turbocharging the renisis is not as hard as mazda has made it out to be...they are saying that it is hard meerly because they jacked up when they put the mount where they did. you dont expect them to keep the same compression ratio do you???? of course not did they keep the same compression with the 13b of course not. So forced induction is not as hard as they are making it sound. They just realized they jacked up big time. But mark my words we have just scratched the head of a "giant" when it comes to the rotary engine. weve still got 50 years to play catch up to the piston engine...forced induction on the renesis is not to far away as is the mythical 15x <- (duno the letter yet) Yes you can only make so much power before you have to go up on displacement...

Slap a turbo on the down pipe off the manifold and re-rout all the inlet plumbing accordingly, or put a mandrel bend on the outlet of the manifold and bring it up in front of the motor for more traditional placement. Slapping a hairdryer on any engine can be done. Getting it to fit under the hood or within the fenders can be the hardest part of doing it. You could also go find some high nickel welding filler rods and weld on a mating flange to the stock manifold.
You're still dealing with an engine running 10:1 and trying to boost it though. Is 2-3 psi really worth it? Thats just a guess of max boost before she pops, but you'd need to be running C16 all the time to make any safe power out of it. 20b makes far more sense. (and will leave you with more change to spare when you're done)

The Mazda parts list is out for the RX-8. A Renesis block not including the intake/exhaust manifolds is about $5000. Comparable to a brand new non-remanufactured 13B from Mazda. Then you need to add on the induction system, a computer to control it, an exhaust, everything required to adapt it in the engine bay, lots of time and fabrication, etc.... What's the point? All that to get 250 hp and be different from the next guy? If I wanted to be that different I'd stick a custom turbocharged Hyabusa motorcycle engine in my car and claim to be the first to do it. I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool. It just isn't worth the effort for the measly power increase that you'd get especially when you compare it to any other form of power adder like a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous. 13B for me until junkyards get full of them and convesions are simple.
If they made a Carb kit for the renesis, you could probably get a motor and exhaust manifold mated with a Carb kit and be able to run one without worrying about wiring.
But the truth is that this motor is a mystery to the public. The RX-8 isnt even out yet, so not too many people know what is possible. You might be able to mate the Renesis to an FC tranny and drivetrain, but no one really knows.
