gilmer question
So I bought one from Rotary Works... BIG MISTAKE.
The water pump pulley has given me the biggest headache so far.
1) The inner diameter of the pulley is too small, it wouldn't even sit on the water pump.
2) the center hole on the pulley was 15mm vice 17mm.
3) the main pulley bolt holes were off about 1/8-1/16"
I'm sure I've already screwed the pooch warranty-wise by machining it to fit, but I have a question.
1) Is there any serious problem with about 1/8" belt overhang on a pulley? These POSs dont line up very well. With the provided spacer for the water pump, the belt hangs over the back by about 1/8" and without it, it overhangs the front by 1/8" (go figure, the spacer is 1/4". The main pulley overhangs about 1/8" over the front with/without the spacer on the water pump.

Rotary Works is a god awful company. Usually awful fitment with zero support. They blow you off via email and telephone. Spent so much money with them only to either customize the hell out of it or sell it for less than half I paid for it. I think their warranty is you buy it, we ship it, good luck.
With that being said, there is two different water pumps for the fc and they do know this. They actually make two different water pump pulleys. They don't have an option to choose which one on their website so whichever they decide to give you is what you get. If I remember right, I think the spacer is not for the FC. The main pulley I received has oblong holes for different cars. Wd40 it and hit it on and off a few times with a rubber mallet so it's not as much of a press fit. Wd40 it again now that it's less tight and rotate it until the holes line up. You have to look carefully. They only line up in one orientation.

I had to re-do the WP holes on mine and then figure out spacing.
The alternator pulley come sin 2 sizes. 15mm and 17mm(Fd) so if you didn't specify then you most likely got FC.
I also had to buy another belt because I couldn't fit the one supplied with the Kit On the FD alt on an FC.It was just too small.
If you want to keep it you can alter the pulley location by using washers.

I have a friend that has been running a gilmer belt on his 13b FB for a couple of years now and his belt does the same thing. It overhangs the front by probably 1/8th in. I've talked to him about it a few times and he said it's never moved that he's noticed. And I think he may have said that once the engine is running it might slide back that little bit.

i haven't messed with a megasquirt yet, but i have been looking real hard at the new versions with this 4 rotor sitting here begging to be finished. don't feel like dumping $3k+ on an EMS before seeing what the end result will be and the MS boxes have been coming a long way(although 2 rotor< support seems to be lacking).

MIDN!, I would get a spare belt and put in the bins,if I were you.(I carried 2 actually and had one on the car..so 3)
Remember you are relying on ONE belt now,as opposed to the 2 dinky v belts! At least If one Vbelt went you had a back up!
