Idiot Lights Won't Go Off!

Well, now my idiot lights will not go off. The "Hatch" and "Brake" lights will not go off. My hatch is closed, and the parking brake is off, so WHAT THE HELL???? Are these cars ever working right?!?!?

Because it's both lights and they both started to stick on at once, I'd bet it's the solder joints in the warning light board. It could also be the switches in both those locations but it'd be a good idea to re-solder the cluster board anyway.

Check the brake fluid. Also with the hatch lite on go to the rear and push down on the hatch. Lite goes out? Adjust the sw. Could also be solder joints. Some of this could have been brought on by colder weather. Adjustments vary due to parts shrinking a touch. Fluid leaks out of a reservior due to tolerances changing due to cold etc.

yeah check the brake fluid! I thought my handbrake switch was messed up, but it turns out I was almost out of brake fluid thanks to #@$&*%&^@ leaking ABS box.

Well, I really SLAMMED the hatch, and the light stayed off. Then, earlier today, I power slid around a corner, lost control (oops) and almost died. The good thing, the Parking Brake light now stays off! I guess it was two gifts from heaven today!!

Then its confirmed (99%)...your "idiot cluster light" has the "cold solder" problem. If it was solved by agressive movements, I guarantee you it will come back. Go to the FAQ @

check for other electrical problems.
