Gear slip
Hi,
Does anyone know why or what causes a gear slip? moreover, what can be done to remedy the problem? Maybe a new flywheel? Thanks in advance

well, the gear would remind in first gear even after the shifter is on second. I haveto re engage the clutch a few times to shift up. So I am suspecting this would be a gear slip and may not be the clutch...

Here's what I'm seeing you describe:
Going along in first, press in the clutch, move the shifter to second, release the clutch and the car's still in first.
Is that how it's going? If that's it, internal tranny work needed. No idea what would cause it. Never heard of anything like that.
Or this:
Going along in first, press clutch, TRY to shift to second, won't go in and grinds, shove it back into first, accelerate again, press clutch, shift into second.
Is that how it's going? If that's it and it's only second it's probably a syncro. Again, internal tranny repair. Until it's fixed don't force it. Don't be rough with any car's shifter or you'll cause more problems. If the same thing happens in all gears it might be the clutch, hydraulics, throwout bearing, etc.
