gear oil on the shifter!!!

gear oil on the shifter!!!

i have 89 gtu and there is gear oil going through all the boots and seals and going in to the inside of my car. i have a c's short throw and brand new boots that go around the shifter.but i am still getting gear oil coming through all the seals and i was wondering if there is any way to stop this?
is anyone else having this problem?

did you replace all the bushings for the shifter? Did you add any fluid to the shifter housing?

i was gonna try that next and i did add fluid when i swapped trannys about 5 months ago it was bone dry when i got it. do you think the bushings will help?

Did you add the fluid through the shifter? If you did that is probably why you have gear oil in there. It doesnt go in that way.

arnt you suppost to fill the tower up though? to lube the linkage..

i didnt put a lot in there just enough to keep it lubed. i filled the tranny at the filler hole on the tranny. anyother ideas on what is causeing this nasty smelling stuff to come into my car?
