EGT is also a good one to have but since they are costly i wouldn't say it is a needed guage unless you got the money.

In all cars, you will want oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, Air/fuel. Vacuum is also nice.

In addition to the above, in a turbo car you will want boost. Since TIIs don't have a stock voltmeter, add one of those as well.

If you are tuning the car yourself, EGT and wideband O2 are required.

There are others, but these are the basics.

Sorry for digging an old thread up, but what's wrong with the stock oil pressure gauge?

^^ I've got a stock one and an autometer. The stock one reads too high around idle, first of all. It will say 30ish on mine when it's closer to 25. When you tap the throttle, the stock one responds very slowly to changing conditions. The stock one pretty much reads 60ish or 30ish usually, when in fact there are more fluctuations than that.

It's slow to respond and now that the senders are getting old the gauges are becomming inaccurate. Also they don't register higher then stock oil pressure since their scale is not that large.

if space is limited, what would be the more crucial gauge to get, the oil pressure or the oil temp, since the oil pressure is already included in the stock gauge cluster?

If you are running the car hard (autocross, track, drag) then oil temp.
