Question Gauge Clusters

Are all Gauge Clusters swapable, im getting a 87 turbo 2 but not gonna turbocharge it, gonna supercharge it, so could i use a 89-91 NA gauge cluster. or would i have to use a 86-88 gauge cluster.

Good question....I've got a '87 Turbo II but I like the round 89-91 gauges and since the stock boost gauge is useless I wouldn't mind getting rid of it.

89-91 NA Gagues will have an 8k redline on the tach while T2's redline at 7k.

86-88 NA's had 7k redlines though.

You can swap in the '89-91 cluster into an '86-88 car, but you'll have to do a little work with the wiring harness. A little sit-down with both shop manuals and you should be good to go.

If you want to be creative, do as I am currently doing. Have your Black front plate, the one In the Instrument Cluster, sent out to be plastic chromed. Any place that works with vacuum metalizing machines will do this. Infact, the same could be said about my MAZDA RX-7 badges. It should turn out mint!

Its been covered here many times, and even what pins need to be moved.

I would suggest the search thing for anyone considering swaping the gauges between series.

as to the T2 to NA swap it should be plug in as long as you keep the same series.
