gauge cluster problems on 88 n/a

my 7.5 amp meter fuse keeps blowing, b4 it blew, the oil pressure gauge pinned, and so did the temp gauge (always had problems with temp gauge)

ill post some pics of wiring and such under the hood for extra help...but does anybody know what would cause the meter fuse to keep blowing? it blew three 10 amp fuses already too...but i didnt wanna go any higher...

it's probably because you have a short somewhere. Ignoring your problem by getting higher fuses is a very poor decision.

A short in the oil-psi and/or temp signal wires will cause them to peg and probably blow the fuse.

First check the wires going to the senders. The oil-PSI sender is near the bottom of the oil filter and the temp sender is near the upper rear spark plug.

If everything looks cool, pull the gauge cluster and check the resistance of the signal wires. Instructions can be found in the FSM pages 15-30 and 15-32:

im not ignoring it...i was diagnosing it...and since i didnt have any 7.5 amp fuses...i opted for what i had...10 amp fuses...if i decided to ignore it...i wouldnt have come onto the forum and asked for advice...

ok...so looking for some USEFUL information (obviously there is a short...that is why fuses blow) does anybody know a common spot for there to be a short? also...can anybody help me get these wires in the correct spot?

pics coming soon...

i have no clue where this wire goes...when i ground it...the temp gauge pegs...any thoughts?

theres two little round connectors down there...i think they may be attached down on the radiator?

this pic just shows that i have the oil pressure wire hookd up (cant mistake that one) and what i think is the water temp sensor hookd up...

if you see anything else that is causing the engine to run poorly...let me know

the wire that i have plugged in right now comes from a mess of wires towards the bottom rear of the engine bay...

yeah its been sitting outside for awhile, been a very long headache of a project, and yes i know the bolts are missing, way to point it out.

i actually have the large nut and one more of the bolts. Basically i ran out of money and the project has sat for awhile, my little brother has been trying to get it going for me, so back off, if your gonna be a dick say it to me....
