gauge cluster info

Just looking at it, the secondary gauges are probably original, speedo and tach are different and they all have custom dials and lit needles.
The lighting appears better than stock and doesn't seem to have the indirect front lighting diffuser.
No idea who did it though.

Rotary nut for 15 years.
Never seen that before..
I am kinda turned on by it.
Looks like they used the stock cluster underneath. Imagine the stock tach, then rotate it and set the needle in the new location.

Neither the stock tach or speedo sweep as much as those gauges.
Plus, you can't just rotate the gauge mechanisms as the mounting points are very specific and double as the electrical connections.
I think at least the tach is special and they had to compromise to get it in there...the layout makes no sense statically (when at rest, the needle should lay like the speedo's does, straight down) or dynamically (ideally you'd want your shift point to be at the 12 o'clock position).
That gauge has terrible display ergonomics, the needle is never in the expected place.
Getting lit needles on the four stock side gauges is pretty impressive.
Having spent some time in the guts of several clusters lately, I've gained a whole new respect for the ingenuity applied to lighting, both direct and indirect (via diffusers).
It's easy to see why electro-luminescent displays are so popular now, they eliminate a lot of lighting problems.
If what we're seeing is the real effect, I'd bet there is a whole LED bulb system in there because the stock cluster is not capable of such even light distribution.

all they sold in japan were turbo cars, they never gave them a stupid moniker name like "turbo II" in japan.
i think most if not all stock JDM FC's had only a 180kph speedometer, feed/RE amemiya and possibly the Ifini came with the 260kph speedos
