gas smell, poor boost and bad mpg

I am running rich according to the AF meter and a new o2 sensor, there is a somewhat constant smell of gas and the boost has dropped to .4 bar recently. I am getting 175 mpg in city with hift points around 4-5k rpms. Use of dura lube in oil changes used to help the mpg but it does not seem so anymore. I heard of the following diagnosis:

Pulsating damper
too much pressure on the fuel pressure regulator
leaking injectors

I have a DP and an air intake with the air pump removed.
I always assumed that the smell of gas was tied to the removal of the air pump. But now I am questionning that. Do you guys have any other suggestions for me.

thanks

Check the spark plugs, make sure your air filter is clean, do a standard tune up.

Don't use Dura Lube in your engine...

Check the injectors...Remove the secondary fuel rail and use the test connector (see Haynes manual) to pressurize fuel system and check for leaks. Also do the same with the primary injectors.

If the injector check out fine, then get compression checked.

most tune up is there

I just replaced th eplugs, wires are nice, air cleaner is fresh. One thing I need to do is to check the timing. However this low boost came about a few weeks ago. It has a rebuilt turbo and ported wastegate. Turbo spins nice and there is minimal up and down movement. I have the turbo water hose at the dealer waiting now in it place there is a 3/8" napa hose with a slight kink in the middle. I do not think that it limits water enough to run the turbo too hot that the CPU is cutting off the boost. ANy ideas anyone?

The ECU does not cut boost, only fuel. The ECU controls the fuel and ignition. The CPU is what controls your cruise control, HVAC, lighting, stereo, etc. These should not be confused with each other.

The ECU also has no idea how hot the turbo is getting. It only knows how much boost it is making.

Does your TII flood? Mine does sometimes ('87 TII, 108K) I generally hold the pedal to the floor to start it (and then let off, of course )

Also, how is your throttle response from idle? Mine is shitty, it feels like it is being choked. I am certain I need all new injectors, or at least a couple. My car also smells of gas very strong. I think I have a intake leak because it smells very bad after a WOT run. And my gas mileage is BAD, I get around 12-14 mpg.

same here

I got the same symptoms in my car. It smells like gas after getting on it and mileage is right at 13 mpg. I used an injector cleaner on it but I am afraid I may need to get them done professionally. Throttle response is fine in lower gears until I reach the new boost limit of .38 bar it used to be up to .48. Idle is sometimes rough but I do not think that it is a compresion related issue.

I got the same ****. My boost has dropped, I smell gas and I get 20mpg if I shift at 3500rpms, but usually like 12 or so with regular shifting and not racing. I went to the track and got a low 16 but with shitty tires. I can't figure out what it is. I changed plugs, oil filter and have an intake so the filter is brand new. I have a Mazda fuel filter to put in and I think ima buy a DP/MP to get rid of the cats and see what happens.

Check your spark-plug wires. I had a similar problem until I discovered some idiot at the dealership had switched the leading wires.
