Gas smell???

Hey guys. I have been experiencing a really strong raw fuel smell the last few day. I popped the hood after driving around for a while yesterday, and discovered a small puddle of fuel sitting next to the 2nd injectors! I removed the entire upper intake manifold to get to them. I checked the 2nd injectors and they actually looked fine. However one of those funky amber transparent lines was broke. I'm wondering if perhaps thats where the leak is coming from? Do those lines have any fuel supplied to them, or are the more like vacuum lines?

Please help!!!

This was taken from my Haynes manual. The arrow is exactly where (on my car) it's broke. How can I fix it? Those are just lil hard plastic lines. Would it make sence for these to leak? does this pic include the FPD?

That your OMP lines oil metering pump.

They have no fuel passing through. Just oil check your pulsation damper.

Also inspect your fuel lines.

For the injectors, this may be your problem. Follow this link. Your pulsation damper may be leaking. DO NOT DRIVE UNTIL ITS FIXED.

http://mazdatrix.com/c-pulsation.htm

The "amber lines" are your oil metering lines as stated earlier. This is what supplies oil to your rotor chambers. VERY IMPORTANT. You can get them from Mazdatrix.com. http://mazdatrix.com/b62.htm

While you have the intake off, I would replace all vacuum lines, fuel injector grommets, and spider hose vacuum lines and splitter box.

good luck!

You need to replace the PD with either a new one, or eliminate it via the banjo bolt mod (I am not trying to start the debate anew, so chill).
Do a search for banjo bolt. Or give Ray Crowe a call for a new PD.
While you are in there, I would check/replace the fuel lines, and check/replace the orings and bushings on the injectors. These are all possible leak points.
Definitely replace that translucent line. That is the oil metering line.

My motor has just freshly been rebuilt. I specifically remember the guy recommending me get that done, So i did. He replaced the FPD and did the banjo bolt mod. I also had all the injectors rebuilt/reworked. The fuel lines have all new hoses. And the o-rings have been replaced as well. What else could we be dealing with?

Jump the yellow test connector on the passenger shock tower. Sometimes it's under the AFM/airbox. Now turn the key to RUN. The fuel pump will run continuously. Locate your leak and fix it.

Isn't the yellow test connector actually green?

I dont have a air box anymore. I cant picture what test wire you're talking about. One of those lil amber oil lines was broken off on the little spout (oil injector) that screws into the top front rotor housing. Is that part important, or can i some how bypass/block it off? Is that possibly whats causing my gas smell?

Also, i went back to re-check all my fuel lines and o-rings. Everything looks fine. I'm starting to fill a little stumped

I'm starting to feel a lil stumped I have rechecked all the fuel lines and o-rings and what not...

Heres a pick of where the oil line broke..... The smell is still plagueing me. I hav'nt been able to drive my car for 2 days now and it's my only transportation. It's killing me

Jump the connector like Aaron said. Look for a fuel leak.

The connector usually hangs out near the passenger shock tower. It is often under the airbox or in that general area. It's a yellow, two socket plug which may or may not be taped to the harness.

Those "amber" lines are your metering oil lines. Yes, they are important. No, you cannot block them off without other consequences. The lines are about $20 a peice at the Mazda dealer.

If it was a MOP line, wouldn't he be leaking oil?

I suppose the other solution would be MOP removal and premix.

go here and there is an illustration of the location of your yellow connector. Go to page 67.
