gas smell

I just purchased an 89 and filled up on way home. Now very powerful gas smell from trunk area. Any ideas?

is there alot salt on the roads around you. one of the vapor pipes could be rusted/corroded.

WTF? I think it's just general stupidity.

But, the car does run rich and the smell is generally something that comes along with the cars.
