gas mileage difference
There was one guy around here that was running negative split in cruise situations with his Haltech or whatever aftermarket EMS it was. He was indicating much better fuel economy, but never put up any numbers. If they were anywhere near 37, I'm sure he would have been telling the world.
There's no way in Hell the OP went round trip to Bellingham from Bremerton on 7 gallons. This is just silly.

I was wondering what that guy was getting with negative split too... he seemed excited about it, but never did post any #s. I want to try it when I get something I can do that on, though.
And I don't think there's any way to get 37mpg highway - either the odometer went wacky, or you pressurized the tank & hit the fuel pump cutoff WAY early - see what the next tank's mileage is.
Scathcart has a ported turbo engine with S5 NA (high compression) rotors, runs 16:1 to 16.5:1 on the highway with advanced ignition timing, has EGTs that would fry a cat in short order, has spent a lot of time tuning his standalone, and gets around 30mpg highway. There's no way a more or less stock FC is going to pull 37mpg out it's ****.

Before i installed the Jacobs FC1000 on my '87 GXL the best city milage i got was 12.5MPG. Last fill up (first full drive from full to E after the Jacobs installation) it got a hair over 16MPG. No changes to my driving style, and it's still hot outside now like it was before.

Eh, I have an SAFC-II tuned using a narrowband O2 sensor. So, not optimally, but lean. I will look into some stuff, but I know for a fact that I made it up to bellingham and back on near half a tank of gas.
If there was some way I could show you guys, or help you guys out I would. I am going to look into it. I wish all FC's could get the mileage I get on the highway. It still sucks down tons of gas in the city.
And, I feel sorry for the person that said it took 80 bucks to fill it. It only costs me 35 to fill from the light.
Much love for the FC.

I check my mpg every time I fill at the station. my record low is 12.5 may average is i would say18 and my best is 25. I own an 88vert. from what I have read it is the 7 with the tallest hwy gears and it made some folks angry that this was the case for the us modle vert.... Critics said it was a step back. I dont know how you would get better then 25.
Listen homie, your car is not magic or special, you, on the other hand, certainly are special, but your 7 isn't. I'll prove you wrong. Stop by my house next time you come through Seattle.
Are you sure you're not forgetting about getting towed back or something? Or your ODO is only counting every other mile.
I know it will be embarassing when you find out where you went wrong in your calculations, but please post up anyway. I'm curious.
I guess the old addage holds firm in this case; You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.

LoL. I figured someone would try and make some personal attacks. Oh well.
You guys are funny. No real creative critisism, just insults, and saying it isn't possible.

but one thing that doesn't make sense
http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?newa...y=us&terr=3003
it's only 153.7 miles give or take a few.
so how did you get 300 miles again? did you drive to portland and then back up?
or did you forget to reset the trip meter?
maybe your speedo is just off by that much

what kills me my first record high was on a longer trip to on I-5 why why why
Here's the REAL way to test gas mileage.
1. Write down your milege AT THE GAS STATION.
2. Put gas in the car until the pump automatically stops.
3. Drive your car.
4. Go to the gas station.
5. Write down your mileage.
6. Put gas in the car until the pump automatically stops.
7. Write down how much gas you put in.
8. Change in miles (new mileage-old mileage)/gallons used.
You CAN'T judge by the gauge in your dash. It's inaccurate.
Putting gas in until it automatically stops is "somewhat" inaccurate because they have different shut off points, but they're all pretty much the same.
