Also, do you have to put premium gas in it like you do with the FDs?

no, just keep it with 87 octane. Doesn't even matter. umm, usually your supposed to get 17mpg/24/ automatic

17/25 with standard. I think i usually get around with 400 to a tank...I never fill it up tho.. Its alright, rotaries are not that great on gas...fun to drive tho

I currently have a FD and was looking at a NA FC as a possible second car (also daily driver). I was just wondering how much my gas bill on it would be since I currently spend $120+ on gas per month with the FD and would like something that doesnt guzzle gas and that doesnt require premium gas.

120 miles a tank?? OUCH!! I get mad when I come short of 300, but it's just unavoidable when you do a lot of city driving. Especially when you like to boost as much as I do. I don't think a second RX-7 is a good gas saver. Get one of those new Hybrid Civics! I totally want one, or a bike, which is my more realistic alternative.. <sigh>

120 miles on a tank? Holy. ****.
I thought mine was bad.
I get about 15-17 city, and 26 or better on the highway.
My mileage has actually gone way up since putting in the S-AFC, and the different injectors and fuel pump.
I use to get around 10 mpg city!!! That was running pretty damn rich though, and no o2 sensor.

ALso- I took a 8 hour highway trip at a stupid pace, and since then, my MPG has gone up by a good 20%! Chalk one up for powertuning!

FC's have much better mileage on the highway than city... the problem is that the ECU is only in closed loop a very small part of the time...only light cruise! The rest of the time it's in rich open loop. So almost never in the city. Sucks. It's for reliablilty reasons... definatly NOT fuel economy!

wow, someone with more miles on their car than me (166K)

I get like 15½ to 16½ mpg in my base model 86, lil bit low, but it needs some work. So I'm happy, I know the miles will come with work.

Hehe Yeah, she is getting up in miles. If you ever come up to the greensboro area maybe they could meet. Combined milage of almost 350000 miles!

I have a slightly modded 87' TII and I ran 87 octane when I drove it a bunch and I was getting around 20-21 in the city, alot of my time driving I was stuck in rush hour traffic.

I get city: roughly around 14-17mpg - depending how I drive, heavy foot or not.

interstate: roughly around 20mpg.

I have an 88 GXL n/a 5speed.

I use 87 octane, but I have also used mid-grade gas. I'm not sure of the octane #. I can tell ya, though.. mid-grade gas .. my car adores. Only time I found it, was I mistakely pressed that, instead of 87...and a friend with me said it's ok ...your car will love you. Since that day after the autox, my car ran smooth.

now.. I can't find the mid-grade gas around my area.... only place that I know of is near teh autox in Pcola. Anyone know the octane #.. or another name for mid-grade?

i usually get about 200 miles on my tank ( 86 GXL , 215,000).. I Think... the gas gauge never actually goes up to full when I fill it, so i'm not sure it's empty when it's on "E"

leaky injectors (at least something is wrong with them) + heavy foot = 12-14city, once had 25 highway...now tho, its more like 20-22. i think i am going to go a tank driving like an old lady and shifting under 4k, hopefully i will get some more miles out of my money

does it even help to run 93 octane? will it run better? or on the contrary make it run to rich?

NA's do not need super unleaded. It would benefit only if you bumped the timing or have a chipped ECU.

Octane doesn't affect fuel/air ratio.

Turbos need all the octane they can get.

Detonation=death. Or detonation=rebuild.

And, as the saying goes: when you buy 87 octane, you get 87 octane. When you buy 93 octane, you hope you got 93 octane.
