Does it ever lite up? As in, when you turn the key on but do not start the car, do all the idiot lites lite up? You could disconnect the plug and ring out the wire from the connector to the plug on the l/h rear strut tower, to see if you have continuity. On a 87 its a white wire with a red stripe. You could disconnect the plug at the strut tower and put a ground on the white/red wire and see if the lite lights up, with the idiot lites plug on and the key to on. Thats white and red for a 87. I assume a 90 whatever is the same. Could be wrong. In fact thats just what you should do. Disconnect the plug at the l/h strut tower(under the carpeting) and jumper the white/red wire to ground. No lite? Could be a waxed lite bulb, but probably a needed solder job on the idiot lite cluster.

you really shouldn't wait that long anyways, it's really bad on the fuel pump. I never let my tank get below 1/4.

Yes, 18.5 for 89-91, and 16.6 for 86-88.

I saw on one web page that it was 16.6 for 89's and 18.5 for 90-91. If that's the case then your light is ok.

In my 88 SE, the light comes on when the tank hits one gallon remaining. The light came on for me one block from the gas station and I filled it up. 15.5xx gallons of gas.

are you sure about the tank sizes? I have a 91 convertible and when I was going to buy gas on night(gas gauge below empty), the car was on the verge of dying the entire time. I filled her up with 17.4 gallons of 92 octane, not no 18.5 gallons. Whats up with that?

You could have had 1 gallon in there, but it would have been tough for the fuel pump to pick it up.

never lend your car to someone who doesn't give a crap about cars. they run it ******* empty and leave it for you to fill up. my car almost died making a left turn into the gas station. i never run it that empty.

I ran out of gas once in my old TII. The gauge was low, and my brother used it without filling it up. I had to pick up my other brother at the train station and then get gas. We didn't make it very far after I picked him up. Luckily I was close to home and could come right back to fill it up.
